Teaching Philosophies
I am one that has transformed my ideas of teaching to more concrete expressions and words as experience increases, and I feel fortunate for that. I have quite a number of thoughts and strategies that I follow and live by, and here are some of them:
- Providing Feedback for Improvement
Constructive feedback is key for a school environment to functions, be it between students and teachers, departments and members, or school and the staff body. In the classroom, I believe in openness with sensitivity, and hope that regular feedback, be it in written or verbal form, can keep pupils on track with their learning and more important, allow them to enjoy it as they see changes and better understanding of their work. - Focusing on Social-Emotional Learning: Personal Relationship Building
The influence that those around children will bring to them have a huge impact on their behaviour, views and values. Being taken as the parents of a class in school, it is important to reflect on my own set of guidelines and make sure I am as positive and upright as I can be, for students may take my disposition as an example of how they should carry themselves.
But before building trust that allows for such significance in their lives, it is crucial to develop notions that each pupil is valued in the class community, just like how every individual in a family is valued. Here are some ways:
- Being Accessible
- Showing Interest
- Being Aware of Their Strengths
- Connecting Academic Work to Their Interests
